The MLC Financial Freedom Report uncovers what the dream lifestyle is for Australians across different life stages and what they’re doing to achieve this, as well as what is standing in the way.   

First published in 2023, the report introduced the Financial Freedom Index, tracking financial attitudes and behaviours over time.

In February 2024, MLC partnered with social research agency, McCrindle, to survey 2,507 Australians on financial wellbeing. This year’s report builds on past insights, revealing how financial security shapes quality of life, mental health, and family happiness. We also refreshed the Financial Freedom Index, measuring Australians’ progress toward financial independence and their dreams, with younger generations and women leading the charge in financial literacy and stability.
